OpenTofu

env zero is proud to be a founding member and active contributor to OpenTofu, the open-source Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tool that serves as a drop-in replacement for Terraform.

Our involvement

As one of the founding companies behind OpenTofu, env zero helped establish this community-driven initiative in response to HashiCorp’s license change from open-source to the Business Source License (BUSL). We believe that Infrastructure-as-Code tools should remain open-source and accessible to the entire community. env zero continues to actively contribute to OpenTofu’s development and supports its mission to provide a reliable, flexible, and community-driven alternative to Terraform.

Key benefits

OpenTofu offers several advantages for Infrastructure-as-Code management:
  • Drop-in replacement: Seamlessly works with existing Terraform configurations
  • Open-source: Maintains the open-source principles that made Terraform successful
  • Community-driven: Developed by a diverse community of contributors
  • Feature parity: Maintains compatibility with Terraform while adding new capabilities
  • Extensive ecosystem: Access to 3,900+ providers and 23,600+ modules
